A Reflection on the Daily Office Readings

2 Samuel 3:6-21

In this passage, we witness a family torn apart by conflict and rivalry. As Abner, once a trusted commander, defects to David's side, tension escalates with Joab's vengeance-driven act. In the midst of this chaos, David responds with wisdom, prioritizing peace over revenge. Instead of rejoicing over Abner's death, David mourns, showing a Christ-like attitude of forgiveness.

In our lives, we may encounter disputes and bitterness. But as Christians, we are called to embrace God's peace, extending forgiveness and seeking reconciliation. Like David, let us resist the temptation of retaliation and let God's love triumph over hatred.
