A Reflection on the Daily Office Readings

1 Kings 1:5-31

In this passage we have the story of Adonijah's attempt to seize the throne. We witness the peril of pursuing personal ambition without seeking God's guidance. Adonijah's desire for power blinded him to Solomon's rightful place as king. Bathsheba's intercession and Nathan's wisdom ensured God's chosen successor, Solomon, ascended the throne. This passage reminds us that self-centered ambitions can lead to discord and division. Instead, let's align our desires with God's will, seeking His guidance and timing in all our endeavors. When we surrender our ambitions to God, He establishes a path of true fulfillment and blessings.
