A Reflection on the Daily Office Readings

Ezekiel 7:10-15, 23b-27

This passage speaks of a time of great calamity and judgment upon a sinful and idolatrous people. It portrays a vivid picture of the consequences of their actions and the impending destruction that awaits them. The passage emphasizes the futility of seeking refuge in material possessions and worldly power when faced with divine wrath. It serves as a reminder that true security and meaning can only be found in a relationship with God. This passage prompts reflection on the transient nature of worldly pursuits and encourages a reevaluation of our priorities, urging us to seek God's righteousness and live with a sense of eternal purpose.

  1. What mistake have you made that resulted in a disastrous outcome?

  2. We live in a digital age, and navigating that road can be tricky. Do you feel that you should be held accountable for your words and deeds online? Why or why not?

  3. Many people struggle with either seeking validation through social media or just fixated on scrolling through pictures/videos for hours on end. How much time do you spend daily on social media? Does the amount of time that you spend on social media seem reasonable to you? Why or why not?

  4. How much time do you spend daily working on your relationship with God? Does the amount of time you invest in your spiritual growth seem reasonable to you? Why or why not?

  5. Based on the amount of time spent on a particular activity, how would you rank your current activities in order of time spent on them? If you were to reevaluate how you spend your time, then what changes would you make to how your time is spent?

Hebrews 6:13-20

  2. What have you been delaying doing because of doubts that you have?

  3. State 3 promises that God has personally made to you in Biblical scripture. Do you feel that these promises are trustworthy? Why or why not?

  4. Name 2 people who intensely pray for you on a daily basis. Name 2 people who you pray for on a daily basis? Is there a power in prayer? If so, then how do you know?

  5. What broken relationship have you set your hope on restoring? How might the unshakable foundation of God’s faithfulness help you be patient in building that relationship back better?

  1. Do you feel a sense of urgency in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others? Explain.

  2. Is it politically correct to speak to a stranger about Jesus Christ? Why do you feel this way?

  3. Have you ever witnessed a miraculous healing or experienced the casting out of a demon? What are your thoughts on such things?

  4. Do you lean more towards relying on God’s provision or do you feel distracted by material concerns? Why is this?

  5. Describe what it means for us to have supernatural power through Christ?

To God be the glory now and forever. Amen.
